Athletics have always played a big part in my life. Growing up in
South Bend, Indiana my father introduced me to the life-long sports
of golf, tennis, and skiing. I attended a private school called
Stanley Clark School where I played volleyball, softball and basketball,
and I played in a local girl’s soccer league. I tried out
for the boy’s golf team in high school and qualified for the
Freshman Team but, as a female, wasn’t put on the roster.
Without the opportunity to play
high school golf, I was overlooked as I headed on to college. I
attended Hanover College, in Southern Indiana, where there was no
woman’s golf team in place so I tried out for the Men’s
College Golf Team. I qualified to play the third “man”
on the team and competed in the NAIA Div. 2 Conference - the only
female competing in the conference. This experience opened the door
for me to play Division I Golf for three years at Oklahoma State
University where I earned my marketing degree, and later as a professional
athlete for two years on the Futures Golf Tour.
This past January I was hired
as the Director of Golf at the Vail Golf Club in Colorado - the
only female in Colorado to hold this position. My childhood experiences,
my parents support, and perseverance played a huge role in my professional
career. Sports are my life and I feel fortunate to continue working
in the golf industry. .
